It may have been run on synthetic fuel, that will kill the old-school engines, have you tried 25% all castor?

If it has been run on purely synthetic oils you may get it to run on 25% pure castor. This may seal enough to run, even if not great. Castor can then also build up a film and it might not be a total loss.

Best solution is of coarse to by a new piston and cylinder set from Bernie, if he still has some.
