Re: Free Flight Radio Assist
I would test it for sure (looks low?) but i don't see how you can get it much higher to bee inline with the needle / inlet tube . It does look good though !

What a beautiful model aircraft Roberto... congratulations, you are already in the final adjustments, I think!...
Tell me, will you fly it in those somewhat thorny places?... I am worried that on landing, your beautiful model will be damaged by the hard grass and thorns!

Re: Free Flight Radio Assist
Thanks for the tank advice Td, Eric ….Makes sense to test it nose up needle setting…. Will do that on the test stand …..It’s just temporary in the photo…. Will get a wire clip and rubber band to hold it on more permanently ….
Gracias Mauricio!…. Yes it will have to fly from my rough field….Most of my planes are small and I try to keep them light….Less overall mass…. It helps them land slower a lessens the chance of damage…. Regardless, I love flying, And if they get broken or destroyed, Just a good reason to fix it or build another one

The only comment I can see relevant to your tank is when the fuel runs out. The engine run is going to go lean for a fair amount of time. Raising the tank will help but in the end, the engine is going to lean regardless and will pitch the nose high in which you don't want it to stall.

Thanks Ken, Will try and get the trim figured out to to have it at a decent altitude (and room for error) for the leaner end of the run ….. Hopefully torque will influence a left turn as engine speed goes up and help keep the nose down ….

Re: Free Flight Radio Assist
Finally completed …. 110 grams… Just need to run the engine some more…. I take it for granted how easy Cox engines start and run after fiddling with old Cubs and Wasps…. They do seem to start and run easier after several tanks of fuel…. The old engine test articles sometimes mention how long these older engines were ran for a break in period before taking measurements…
I was trying to figure out how to attach the pushrods to the “brick” and still be able to it take it out to maybe use it in another future plane on of these days …I made one of the pushrods two piece and used an aluminum tube and a rubber band to hold it together… That way it can be taken apart and the unit can wiggle its way around the Z-bend on the other rod…
We’ll take it out and fly it on of these days…

Nice job Robert. Everything clicks. Looks like you placed some gaskets either side of the NVa. And do I detect a hint of yor advocated wing "washout"?

Re: Free Flight Radio Assist
Thanks Bob!….The PO changed the needle valve to an OS .10 assembly and those fiber gaskets were there already so I just left them…. That needle works great with the engine and will hold at a nice rich setting if needed….Mr. Willard was pretty sharp the way he designed the wing…. It’s built as a full rectangle then the trailing edge is trimmed off at an angle from tip to root and it automatically provides washout…. A great stabilizing factor for FF and RC models …..
Edit…. Thanks for that little gas tank Bob!…. Perfect for this plane

The quality of your work, Roberto, is admirable. Looking at this model, it transports me directly to the real era of the model!
Congratulations! Every detail of the construction is well worth the applause!
I hope I can fly this wonderful model soon!

Gracias Mauricio!!!….Yes, I think visiting a different time is part of the fun of these ….It’s interesting to be able to re-create ideas that were thought of long time ago…, Gives a nice insight into that era ….
