HELP! Glow plug adapter question...AP Wasp .061
Sorry...not Cox related, but Bernie said I should ask here.
Will this adapter fit the AP Wasp .061 head? I've heard that the threads are the same (?) I'm clueless...
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370565487484&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:CA:1123
Bernie doesn't know. Anyone?
Thanks!
Allen

Re: HELP! Glow plug adapter question...AP Wasp .061
It should "fit" but you will loose a lot of power. You'll be better of with the stock AP plug or the Norvel plugs. There are also glow head types by Merlin. The key is to stay away from regular glow plugs on small engines...

Thanks, Would the Merlin plugs be the "2019's" for Cox and Norvel?

Yes the 2019 are the ones, I haven't compared the clamp ring sizes though, you could get the 2019A and then you get a clamp ring that would fit too.

Thanks. Larry Renger just told me he swears by the Wasp, and uses the Merlin plugs. He stated that the included lockdown ring works.
Thanks for the help!

Re: HELP! Glow plug adapter question...AP Wasp .061
Since Merlin lists the 2019 series in conjunction with a clamp ring, the plugs should fit. However, without an image, an email to Merlin might be in order to ensure that these are plug inserts with a clamp and not an adapter ring with a standard plug.
If you're intend to buy some replacement plugs for your AP Wasp, you should pick up a couple of packs of head gaskets from either COX International, EX Model Engines or Larry Driskill at KittingItTogether. NORVEL replacement plugs (will fit the AP) can also be purchased from NV Engines (bought out NORVEL).
The high performance replacement package (Galbreath head/NELSON plug) is available from KittingItTogether.
But, in all cases, throw away the head shim that ships with the Wasp and use a high quality copper head gasket. The AP gasket is almost impossible to get to seal well.
