Choke tube? Empty Choke tube?

In the Cox .049 sure start engines manual it says the choke tube is for the use of priming the engine without squirting fuel into the exhaust ports, does this mean you actually put fuel down the choke tube to prime it?

You could put a few drops in the choke tube to prime, but only a few. It would be easy to flood the engine by putting too much. The instructions say to cover choke tube with finger and flip prop a few times with glow clip DISCONNECTED. This will pull fuel from tank and prime engine. This is described in the "How to start" section of the manual. Good luck with it. Very Happy

Agreed
You shouldn't really need to prime imho.
The surestart is so called cos it's VVVVVVVVV easy to start.

I'll second that! I have a number of SureStarts and they all start far more easily than, say, a Babe Bee, however, I always give them a little squirt into the exhaust anyway, more from habit than need, I really don't think priming the choke tube is either necessary or to be recommended.

And by "flip the prop" just turn it over with your finger for 2 or 3 turns. It need not even be a fast flip since your finger over the choke is causing it to pull a vacuum. I've flooded mine by spinning it with the spring and choking it. Remember to open the NV first or it won't pull the fuel in.
