Have you started a TD before? If you have it's pretty much the same.
As to the RPM the prop you choose will probably have a bigger effect on RPM than Nitro content.

p.s. the .09 will have a much bigger kick than an .020 or even an .049 engine. happydad.

re: "special deal"
Mitch, just like any TD the venturi has to absolutely be castor and debris free to work correctly. The TD engines use a true sprinkler venturi. My best suggestion would be to hold the engine upside down while pressurizing the fuel nipple. Open the needle and really flush out those holes with fuel. If all is clear, your good to go. Cox made a specific prop for the .09. It was a gray 7 x 3.5. These are a bit rare but the size is certainly something to reference to. Removing the venturi would be a good idea closely inspecting the threads in the plastic for cracks. If no cracks are present , tighten the venturi snugly. If bench running, keep the fuel line short and the same height as the centerline of fuel inlet. I like to use clear tubing. Place finger over venturi and pull through a stroke watching fuel come up the fuel line. Once the fuel is at the nipple, don't continue to pull choke. A small prime in the cylinder port and a quick flip should get the engine coming to life. Ken

Any prop in the 7x3-8x3 range will work. You might consider the larger size for the first few rich runs. If you go for the smaller size, consider flipping it backwards and let it fire against compression (without flipping it over the top)...especially if you use exhaust priming.
Factory instructions using the gray 7x3.5 prop and Cox competition fuel lists RPM at 17,750.
Since it is a 50 year old design, don't use a very small prop and expect to match RPM of todays engine. It is a very powerful engine and used within design parameters should provide you with good service.
If you are flying it CL, something around a Flite Streak Jr. or a SIG Akromaster should be a good match.

it came with a zonger 7x3 prop, i may build a flight streak jr or a sig akromaster in the future
thanks for the tips, 17,750 sounds good to me
