That's a tough one given it would require a mold for plastic or metal.

I suppose one could also stamp it from steel, but it would still be tough to properly do the markings.

Get a MicroMark catalog or go to the web site:
http://www.micromark.com/casting-and-molding-supplies.html
lol!

To mould something commercially, one needs a commercial mould. This is what a mould for the reed retainers looks like:

Doesn't look like something you would want to drop on your big toe.

While volume does matter (especially in pursuit of low cost and profit), if you wanted to make resin wings you could probably find a maker who can accommodate runs of 100 or so.

There are makers out there who would happily run a batch of 100 in resin. Several webcomic artists sell custom pins with their characters on them for around the $20 price point, and I doubt they are having several hundred pins made.

This might qualify more as "art" than "manufacturing" in the limited volume.

Phil,

I am sure that you are correct but a resin replica of a Cox pin would likely only sell sub-$10, IMHO probably for not more than $4.95 and I doubt one could get a 100/pcs run for sub-$2/each.

I do believe the Wings would be a big hit. I know of 2 flying clubs around here that teaches kids how to fly RC, they used to start out with Norvels but they now go with Cox and I know they would buy the wings to give to the kids. I don't care how they are made, metal, plastic, molded, stamped.

Hot dang! Even Wally is is affected by inflation! The last pair I saw sold for $50.

I wonder what a mint condition pair like mine would be worth. (not that I would ever sell them, too valuable to me)

I've been trying to get a set of wings for awhile now. I always get brutally outbid at the last minute LOL. I've seen them sell as low as $15 before so I suppose that's why I've been "cheap" with them. I'm working on replicating the wing pins for the forum and would like to have a set of real wings as an example.
