It was bound to happen.......

It was bound to happen.......
The Elm had enough of my playtime. The lines went slack doing lazy eights so I kept stepping back, when I righted the plane I didn't realize how far I was off center. On the next pass it was all over
I had to snap a pic, lost the elevator otherwise the plane was unharmed. Feel free to laugh at my expense, I know I did.

Re: It was bound to happen.......
I don't use an offset due to the advice given here. The consensus is that it isn't really needed as the tip weight and engine offset play a bigger role than rudder offset. Also rudder offset can actually drag the plane down. Having flown both ways I would have to agree.

Nah Rusty, it's the ol' bruiser BRM. It is a real handful as it's overpowered. I built it 10% smaller than I was supposed to as the plans were undersized by accident. You have to think fast with that one.
The Clown flies like a dream and I hope I never wreck it. I usually use the BRM when I am training.

Ah now there's the problem, if it had been 20% smaller it would

Maybe John just maybe.....
It's all fixed up now, ready for the next adventure. The crummy thing is my lines also snagged the tree. They would not free themselves so I had to snap the lines that I had just run the day before.

Yeah, those stupid trees also have branches that seem to grow and then reach out to grab planes. I have had several planes get stuck in trees. One got stuck about 50 feet up and spent the better part of a summer in the tree. It does make for a great photo opportunity, though. Glad you got it down to enjoy again.

And then the really stupid climb up (cos they're still 17 really) to rescue said
Plane, stupid branch breaks one broken hip, pelvis (origin of the expression
Pain in the arse) and 2 ribs later....

No chance!
That 70yr old elm would have come down before I let one of my Cox engines languish away in the weather!
