"Spook" can it be done?

Post  Cribbs74 on Fri Jan 04, 2013 8:28 pm

Has anyone ever done one in balsa? Or do I have to be the first?

The wing looks very similar to a Li'l Satan. Would love to have some dimensions if anyone on here has the real deal.

I don't know, i thought i read somebody drew up plans for this, it should be a pretty easy thing to do, the CG will be more forward with the light balsa, maybe use lite-ply for fuselage...

I checked the plan gallery at Hip Pocket Areonautics, free login required, and there is a spook that is very not similar to the Cox spook.

$3.98! The check is in the mail. I'll bump it up to $5 just to make you feel better since you're probably depressed about the Capital One thing.

Someone did send me drawings - I haven't gotten around to building anything yet, though... sometime soon!

They are available, through Ebay and collectors. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny for one. I was wanting to build one to fly. If I had a real one it would stay in the box.

Re: "Spook" can it be done?

Post  Mudhen on Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:12 am

Sometime in the 90’s Dale and a friend of his decided to market several laser-cut balsa kits. (I don’t remember the name of his friend.) As I recall they had three or four models in mind, one of which was the Spook, (also I think they had a profile version of the ME-109 with a built up wing.) At the time, they didn’t have the kits available, but had already copied the plans for the customer. Dale had “rolls” of plans just waiting for the kits. I remember seeing the Spook. At the time I had other interests so I didn’t take a copy. If someone was interested maybe they could contact the Kirn family. His son, Joe, I think was handling the hobby side of his dad’s work.
Anyway, it’s just a suggestion,
