Hole be gone!! Empty Hole be gone!!

Years ago I decided to do the pressure mod on my .049 TD. It now resides in my Baby Clown that is set up to run on bladder. Problem is I can't get it to needle properly. I assume it's because of the open hole. So, what would be the best way to reverse the mod besides replacing the crankcase?

JB Weld works wonders and the pressure coming off the hole is not strong enough to blow it out.
dissasembly required of course.
we've done several back in the 70's after we went to bladder systems on engines we were running on CC pressure.

Maybe you can fill it with solder or have the hole welded shut. A jewler could probably do it for you if you don't have the right stuff for the job.

EDIT: Mike beat me to it. Try what he said.

The .010 I sent in for the TD race was tapped for pressure, but there was no plug in it. Do you think that's why it wouldn't start?

Probably. A small one like that would be pretty sensitive to a crankcase leak.

Dang Matt,

Wish I had of known as I would have run the pressure line. Sorry pal, try it and see!

I thought about JB weld but wasn't sure if it would hold up to the heat. Seeung as you have had success with it Mike I will give it a go.

Thanks guys!!!!!

the heat won't bother the JB.........especially since it doesn't get hot in that area.
the hole has to be completly oil free though.

i like Rusty's idea too. Beer Cheers

On the big YS's the fuel injector is a
Press fit into the cylinder head/IMO
A really daft idea for such a well
Designed engine. Because it has a lot
Of pressure behind it from the crankcase
'supercharging' the injectors quite often
Go for a solo career/v common fault....
I've JB'd mine in and never had a problem
Since.
Very Happy

That's a good idea! However, the hole is super tiny and I would have ro enlarge it to be able to use a standard tap. The other problem is the backside of the plug would have to be machined or maybe just ground down so it wouldn't hit the crank.
