Re: Hotta damn!
Looks like a damn nice engine with a damn nice box. Really hard to find. It has the un-tapped filler tubes too. The RR1 is a beautiful engine!! One of the nicest .049 produced I'd say, love them!!

Sorry collectors, but I can't see paying that much for an engine you are never going to fly.

I agree, but to a collector it's gold. It's a shame they sell for so much. So, because of the investment it cannot be used. I have one that is pretty and I use it from time to time as it's a lot more fun out of the box.
I understand and respect collectors, I just prefer to enjoy these things.

Re: Hotta damn!
The RR1 hauls ass. Loud too. It blows the doors off a Black Widow. I have Mud's old one in the wraps waiting for a ride. I think it will be a Little Devil based plane. I may buy a kit for the carved and hollowed out fuse and bash it from there with real wings.

I kind of get the Idea that you dont collect engines? Why would you pay that kind of cash for a little rare antique engine and fly it? Some things in life are meant to beautify display cases and bring back historic memories of yester year, I think that the RR1 NIB is one of those things. I dont fly antique motors nor will I ever, thats me though and to each his own in this free capitalistic world of ours, I fly turbine jets now and collect these little engines and love it...But i can kinda relate..why pay $$$ for a Kerosene Turbine Engine just to sit there? I got it...Cause it's not an antique, that's why!!

Re: Hotta damn!
I have owned many cox engines and still have more than a few. The RR1 is best production engine they ever made/ plain and simple. i bought mine as a yound lad in realy 60's on lay-away. The Goldberg Lilttle Satan came out and put this engine for power. Cox racing fuel was good and engine screamed. TD .010/TD .020/ Olympic .15 awesome. Early .049's/.051 led 1/2A's for decades.
Value is what somone wants to pay for it. There are folks out there price is no concern. Good for them and if it makes them happy they got their monies worth. Many engine buyers never run anything they buy, thats there call.

Crackers.
I sold a used 010 last week for 105 bucks but am sending a HP40rc in a box with 2 spare exhausts
to Australia today that went for 56 bucks.
The difference is like a Fiat 500 and a Ferrari.
But as SuperDave is always reminding us "That's the market".

Please don't be offended, I was just saying I wouldn't pay that much. I don't collect anything, execpt maybe ammo and that's a revolving collection. If I find a great deal on a NIB antique I'll sell it to a collector and buy a bunch of engines to fly. But if I find a good deal on a RR-1 that's been used, that baby is foing into a plane . I wasn't saying anything bad about collectors.

Ronald has over 3000 engines. Mostly diesels but I imagine his Cox collection is impressive none the less. He is a nice guy to talk to.
