Product engine question
While trying to spring start a product engine i bought off ebay, It would pop but not start. after several trys (around 30) out of frustration ,I jusrt gave it a quick flip with my finger and to my surprise it started right up. Has anyone ever had this happen. Is there a chance that the spring was fliping it over too fast or was it just dumb luck?

Re: Product engine question
I've had that happen to me a few times. Can happen if the clip is not making a good connection or its primed with too much fuel which causes it to cool the plug off if you kept trying it would of cleared out enough to start if the plug is hot you should hear a strong sizzle coming from the exhaust. The start from your flip maybe from the pause which allowed the plug to heat up and any fuel in the chamber vaporizes so when you flip it, it just busts off. The way I do it it when it gets stubborn is I take hold of the prop and slowly turn the prop over with the clip attached until I feel it bump do it two or three times and try the spring starter again and it should start. Re: Product engine question
Lots of times for me, they start more reliably with only a half turn than a full turn on the spring. When I flip Tee Dees, I always back flip from tdc. They usually fire right up. I never assemble a Bee without a spring.

Yes, frequently.
I also frequently have it the other way around.

Re: Product engine question
It's normal,
Keep in mind it takes a few primes before it will draw from a tank. Just play with it for a while and develop a sequence that works for you.

Re: Product engine question
That was an exhaustive search through Who logos on the internet.
I tried to load up one of Pete doing a mid-air windmill, but it wouldn't shrink down so I settled on that one.

Re: Product engine question
Just checking:
prime by closing the exhaust and hanging a drop in the port, NOT by squirting fuel into the open exhaust.
flip slowly over then flip to start.
If the engine was running well, then isn't, pull the NVA and flush back through, this will
1 flood the engine
2 flush stuff out the intake
clear the flood and it should be back in business.

I ALWAYS do that unless it comes from someone I know. Then I probably will do that depending on if it was run in the last couple months or not.
