My BabyRingmaster Update
Hi all, I've just been out to test fly my Baby Ringmaster. I have just got say what a great little model, It flew great. It flew straight off the board beautifully. Just one question, having no experience with controline. I was quite surprised with the amount of line drag (Dacron lines) Would it be wise to upgrade the lines to 1/2A wire lines before I try my first loop?.
Cheers

Your dacron will work however, if it were me I would just go ahead and purchase a spool of Spectra/Spyderwire or whatever the European equivalent is. I think it has even less drag than .008 steel lines and not prone to kinking.
Congrats on a successful first flight. I broke my plane on my first flight..... And again and again......

Re: My BabyRingmaster Update
I love the Spectra/Spiderwire/Suffix brands. It's all made of Dyneema, a polyethelyne material made by DSM Polymer Technology Group. Most 1/2A flyers use lighter weight than I do. Be sure and get the braid, not the monofilament. I use 30# test, which the box says is the thickness equivalent of traditional 4# test(iirc). A lot of people like to use the 15# test, but I feel it tangles more easily and doesn't wear as long. The 30# has low drag. Give it a good stretch pull after you make up your handle or spool.
Boy these ringmasters are getting popular here at CEF. I'm kind of partial to the Clown, after seeing Ron fly both of the big ones. You can do loops with dacron. Just start high so you don't plant it. Make sure the wind is at your back when you pull up. I feel for the wind with my face as I turn circles, just to make sure it hasn't shifted. I still plow the field now and then. Keep glue in your box.

I use 30lb spiderwire and have never had a problem. I tried 10lb after reading that several others were using it but it broke at the handle when I tried it.
