How do I upload PDF plans?
I have a collection of PDF plans I want to share but when I choose to upload a file, I get a "Your File Type Not Allowed" error. So how do I upload a PDF?

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
I don't see any file hosting buttons other than photos and a Dailymotion video, whatever that is. I Googled file hosting services, but i don't know which ones are malware free, so I won't make any recommendations. I'd like to know too. A lot of forums have that service but this one might not offer it. Maybe Jacob can help out.

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
You currently can't upload anything to the forum because of limited storage space available. You can use http://www.filedropper.com/?r=t
I'll download them all and burn them to a disc to archive them if you would like me to.
I would allow files to be uploaded but it takes up a lot of storage space. Space is renewed once a month and once it gets big, it can get costly. If members wouldn't mind to help out, I'll open it up.

Shawn,
Why not posting the plans in the form of pictures or just a list. Pdf's can be send later to the interested person(s) by e-mail.

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
Andrew has a gazillion files of plans, so if there's ever anything you want to look for, check with him. There's a good chance he's already got it. Maybe he'll let us sticky a link to his catalog.

If a list was posted, we could just email him. Good thinking Rusty, take the rest of the day off.

Rusty --
I don't quite have a gazillion files, but have accumulated several over the years. Some have been sent to me to check for construction errors before being kitted, so I cannot distribute those, but there are plenty of others. There are also some duplicates. If you're looking for a particular type of model, there is also a directory structure that will help a little with classification.
I have the list in .docx, .txt, .pdf and .htm, however none of these file types are allowed for upload. I would include them as part of this post, but there are over 80 pages in the list and the forum editor died when I tried to add them.
If you have a suggestion on how to get a listing on here, I'll be glad to work on it from my end. I converted the .pdf to .jpg, but ended up with over 80 individual .jpg images --- really more than I wanted to attach.

Hmmm, I wonder if you have to be a member to download them through rcgroups. If I recall, they're accessible over there.

I was looking for the 1/2A Lil Matador by Rich Lopez. This combat plane for 1/2A Cox Tee Dee was available on the net in the PDF file but I somehow deleted this plan and can no longer find it anywhere. In fact, I found it accidentally one day while just browsing and I didn't save it. I know this maybe available through one particular plan source, but the plans I found were downloads on the net. Ken

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
I can open another Google Site (I wonder how many sites is too many?) to host the files. The files would have to be sent to me and I would need to upload them. All the manuals on the Instruction Sheets page are hosted through Google Sites. Just in case, I do have all the manuals backed up on my external hard drive and on a CD-R.
I would really have to do the math and figure out how much storage I would really need but it would probably be about $10 or so a month. Nothing to really complain about but I can see myself forgetting to pay for it each month.

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I was going to try File Dropper but you have to pay for a membership before you can download anything and it will be tedious to post pics of all my plans and then e-mail them. So for now just post your requests and if I have the plans, I will e-mail them to you. )
Thanks,
Shawn

You have to pay now? Dammit. I'll try to think of something else we can use.sdjjadk wrote:

Yup, I did a test upload and when I tried to download from the link, it re-directed me to a payment screen.Admin wrote:You have to pay now? Dammit. I'll try to think of something else we can use.sdjjadk wrote:

Re: How do I upload PDF plans?
I have been testing out several different free file hosting sites in the last few days and so far Media Fire http://www.mediafire.com seems to be the best.
Open a free account, upload some files and post the link to the download in your topic. If you PM me about it, I'll download the plans and save a copy on an external hard drive.

Thanks for the help Jacob.
I'll either start another thread in a little while and post more plans.

Try 4shared.com. It's' free and gives you a fair amount of storage too. I have well over a hundred photos there.
