Combat Kitten Afternoon

Combat Kitten Afternoon
Decided to spend an afternoon in the front yard with my bedraggled Combat Kitten, blasting around the circle behind Matt's Christmas Bee. Had a great day since the Kitten managed to miss the ground on all of it's fights. The mean little sucker is almost manageable for my elderly skills !!!
Patrick wasn't as lucky, and busted his new Dewey Bird in half trying to loop it on his rich-running engine. Figure we'll glue the thing back together next weekend, unless he decides to do some work on it himself.
It's always good when the birds come home to roost in one piece !!!!!

Hey Ron !
It's running great! I put about ten flights on it, and managed to fly the fuel out a couple times inverted, but got it down OK each time.
I was running it with three gaskets and 25% Sig with a 6-3. It ran FAST (for me) on my 35' lines, so I'm figuring to put it 40's...just got to do that at the airport to have room for those.

Re: Combat Kitten Afternoon
I like these flying wings.
Do you have a full run time with the vented tubes in horizontal position ?
Best regards,
Rémy

Re: Combat Kitten Afternoon
Hi Rémy,
I think so, though I didn't time the runs. I hold it with the wing vertical when I fuel it, and plug one vent tube with a piece of fuel tube and a small rivet. Don't think the plug is really necessary as it doesn't seem to leak. It's worth the trouble (for me) as it keeps me from dragging the fill tubes through the grass whether I land right-side-up or not.
The Kitten is more than 20 years old and has had just about everything bolted to it's snout (even a fairly healthy Wen Mac). Think I'm gonna leave Mark's engine on it for a while.
I had a really good day yesterday in that I seemed to stay with the plane the whole time, and didn't have to "think" my way through the stuff as it blasted around. On 35' lines, any bit of indecision causes me to run out of sky REAL fast with this little sucker!
Big Otto is STILL waiting for a new nose after I let it clobber the ground with Bernie's "Xtreme .049" pulling it! "Fast Plane...Slow Guy" !!!!

Ah, I haven't seen this plug on the pictures above, and now I understand how you can run full fuel tank and also why you put your engine this way.Kim wrote:Hi Rémy,
