Name That Part!

Name That Part!
My Uncle Wayne asked if I knew what airplane this came from...and I didn't. SO...I figured to tap into the vast reserve of historical knowledge here! He's had it in his junk box for a long time, and finally remembered to bring it out on today's visit.
The mounting holes suggest a Wen Mac or Testors model, with the triangular edges slotting into a groove in a fuselage as with our PT-19's.
Anyway, here are some photo's...

To me it looks like the firewall from a McCoy/Testors RTF plane. Not too sure. Someone here will know.

Re: Name That Part!
Thanks!
Wayne bought a Testors Cosmic Wind (a dismal disappointment flying-wise, but VERY colorful!). His was the red-orange version (I think), but that was a long time ago, and many assorted airplane carcasses have passes through his much-hallowed shop!
I'll pass it on !!!!! Thanks again guys !

Re: Name That Part!
My Cox Cosmic Wind... sad little guy... so handsome... but his engine lives on in other more flight-worthy models! Hmmmm... maybe a powerful little "brushless" motor/timer would bring him back to life? The air-scoops are actually functional, and would help cool the battery! I could turn him into an elec. "speed" model!Kim wrote:Thanks!

If it's an engine you're needing why not just put one in? If you don't have one I can donate one to the cause.

Re: Name That Part!
Ron, you're too kind. Thank You my friend... I have probably 15-20 reedies currently in parts alone; in different-configuration back-plates/reed holders, tank mounts, needle valves, pistons (w/re-set rods), cylinders, crankcases........... all organized in clear compartment boxes... (O.C.D. sickness...) I could put together an engine for it again... if I wanted.Cribbs74 wrote:If it's an engine you're needing why not just put one in? This Cox "Little Tony" model powered by it's .049 reedie/5 x 4 prop, exhibited that "rock on a string" flight characteristic. It felt "HEAVY" on 25 ft. lines... when compared to a "same era/same power" Cox PT-19.
Hey... let's see just what it weighs "dry" w/o an engine...
(below) a nice little "timer-controlled" brushless could reside here, mounted to a modified stock prod. engine's back-plate... with battery located below the fuel tank; and cooled by the "functional" air-scoops... while spinning a 5 x 4 prop. over at more like 20-25K+ rpm.
Maybe it would make a good test-bed for a compact timed-elec. system for my 1/2A U-control models?
Re: Name That Part!
Go big or go home. Batteries are heavy. Sadly I feel trying to convert a plane meant for smaller than .049 is a loosing battle.
I just picked up a KR governor timer from RSM distribution

I plan to convert a Jr. ringmaster to use the 1300mAh 3s batteries I already have.

I got the V2 system (KRPKG) an assortment of cheaper parts

I hope the prop adapter is not overlong
Brodak's site has a guide of sorts that lists out a variety of electric drive lines vs plan size which is how I ended up with this combination of parts, ultimately.
I figure I will crash, and I will break stuff...
