Killer Bee II and nice 1/2a Stunt setup? Empty Killer Bee II and nice 1/2a Stunt setup?

Looking through the Cox site it seems this model pulls as good or better as a Black Widow and not super far off from the ever hard-to-find TD .049.

The Brodak .049 I guess is an option but I want to try and keep it nostalgic.

So, anyone running a 1/2a stunt setup with this or a similar combo that they are happy with?

My last 1/2a stunter was a scratch-build back in the early 80's: A Black Widow on 46' lines with a super thick wind (28% as I recall) that was nice because I was turning almost 5 second laps...

Would like to put something similar together and keep the lap times realistic!

Thanks in advance for the input!

Jim (Jpvelo) is the guy who runs reedies on stunters. He has good luck using pressure bladders with them.

The best 1/2A stunter out of the box that is currently available would probably be the Baby Flight streak or the Baby Clown. They can be both found on the Brodak site and can both be modified for a reed mount.

TD .049's and Medallion can be had pretty readily on Ebay. If you are patient they can be pretty cheaply bought too.

Here is a Baby Clown I modified using a Brodak wing and a Baby Clown fuse. It is a very capable stunter and is able to fly better than my current skill level. I also modified it for functional flaps.

What lines/length are you using and what kind of lap times?

Thanks!

35' lines APC 6x2

With a 5.5x3 I could easily go out to 42', for now I only have room for a 70' circle. I haven't timed laps, but it's manageable.

Thank you! Looking for something I can fly in the yard when I can't get out with my electrified Pathfinder. Laughing

I couldn't agree more with what Ron said. This is my modified baby clown with a tee dee .049 on bladder pressure:

With a 4.75x3 prop and 45 foot lines I can fly straight over head as long as I want. Lap times are probably a hair over 4 seconds.

If you want a fast build to get going quick a sig Skyray with a hot reed valve is more fun than it has a right to be for $14.99.

Tut Tut
Are you lot still messing around with planes on bits of string?
Shocked

Seriously tho the KB2 is a cracking engine BUT it's (imo) essential to run it
with fuel tube over the needle valve otherwise it will constantly self adjust
and won't hold a steady rpm level.
