Silver Stunt Tank
Silver Stunt Tank
I picked up an older engine (possibly early 70s) that has a silver crankcase and a silver 8 CC stunt tank with metal back. The tank requires a circlip to hold the reed valve. Does anyone know the history behind the silver 8 CC stunt tank. I can't find any information on them. I know that after cox was sold to estes they were mixing parts for the engines and they stopped (or weren't) anodizing tanks to save money. Why did Cox release the silver stunt tank when they had the golden bee and the black widow in production? Was there a specific engine that was using this configuration? Thanks, Andy

Re: Silver Stunt Tank
I don't have a breakdown of the larger tank, it appears on many different engines over the years, but I think it first appeared on the Spitfire.
Re: Silver Stunt Tank
The silver stunt tanks were used in planes as product engines. They also sold a tank retrofit kit that had a silver stunt tank with the backplate.

I have heard about and actually seen the 8 CC non-vented tanks that were used as product engines. It isn't clear to me how you would access the stunt tanks fill holes without modify the product plane and would therefore require a special plane that would have been advertised. Perhaps this engine was just a conversion. Thanks, Andy
