WTB: Junk Stunt Tank

WTB: Junk Stunt Tank
Sounds like an odd request, but I'm looking for a junker stunt tank. Scratched, dented, anything goes. All I need from it is one of the vent tubes. Trying to restore an RR-1 tank and I'm missing a vent tube.

Re: WTB: Junk Stunt Tank
My "Golden Bee" stunt tank appears to use 3/32" dia, (.093) tubing... This "is" the o.d. measurement of the nipples outside of the tank. My "inner-tank" tube o.d. measures less.. for some reason... at .083"... (??) If you can obtain some K & S 3/32" o.d. (.093" o.d.) tubing... you could cut a vent pipe to length, and make it work... I would think.

How are you planning to install it?
Very few adhesives will tolerate submerging in high nitromethane fuel. JBweld is included in this list, although it is more tolerant than others which is why it can be used on intakes.

Either solder or welding 5356 aluminum. I've repaired a couple unanodized tanks successfully with solder.

Good.
I've had no luck soldering aluminum, but I have been using general purpose, plumbing, or electrical solders, which are less than ideal.

That's what I used. Filled the hole and filed and polished. Leaves a barely noticeable ring. I haven't tested their ability to stop leakage, however. It looks good though. On the RR-1, though, I will want to weld because it will need to be re-annodized.

Re: WTB: Junk Stunt Tank
If you didn't get your cross vent tube yet, you could ask Matt or Bernie to see if either of them could spare a tube. I do believe they are putting the tubes in the tanks themselves, at least for awhile there they were.
Re: WTB: Junk Stunt Tank
If you look carefully at the vent tubes they are sanded down on the outside for easier insertion into the tank. If you can't get them I think I have some tubing here to make one for you. I can sand it down on the lathe.

Re: WTB: Junk Stunt Tank
We have the filler / vent tubes made to exact OEM Cox specs. They are tapered towards the top and pressed in.
With your next order from us, just drop us a note and we'll send you a few freebies
