For my recent birthday, my wife got me a Tower Hobbies $50 gift certificate. I've been trying to choose how I will spend it. I like to have hardware on-hand when I decide to start a building project.. and although I have "some" metal tubing.. I always seem to lack that certain size that I need.. or it's the wrong type of metal for the application.
This K & S assortment (Tower #LXWF S4) is $2.99... and I know that it will be very handy to have around. Now I need to spend another $47...

Hopefully the cut size will be useful for you. Let me know if you need help spending the remaining $47

Good choice. I bought a pack of cut tubing like that from Omni Models last week, and it's already come in handy.

Oh yea... I'm constantly cutting tubing for bushings, sleeves, couplers etc. and a lot of the time; it's in lengths under 1/4".. so this assortment is great.
as for the balance of the $50... I've got some items added to my Tower "Wish List".. some music-wire, and a couple items I'd like some opinions on actually...
A "Fourmost" fuel filter for my Speed Contest Engine.. (it's the smallest one that Tower sells.. and not cheap @ $6.39)

and a Sullivan IJ2 1/2A handle.. also for my Speed Contest entry (I don't have a nice handle.. and at Tower's price of $12.59... this one looks pretty good)

That leaves about $30.00...

I have that Sullivan handle...I am not sure you want it for 1/2a. If you do get it take the wire out of it, as the wire is springier than line tension.

Thank You Phil. Do you find it to be a comfortable handle? also.. can the cable that comes with it; be removed without cutting it? The cable looks to be a separate piece in the photo.. and replaceable with either a new one, or a different one. I "do" have some .032" dia. cable that I could replace it with. It is fairly supple.. compared to the .047" cable on my old EZ-Just's...
Here's the .032" cable I have.. we used to hang signs in stores with it (old job I had)

I really can't afford a new handle... but I have the Tower credit... Maybe it's worth using this cable and making my own custom handle... I could use the $12.59 on other items.
Have you ever used that Fourmost fuel filter on a reedie?
Re: K & S tubing assortment-Tower
I use the narrow version of that handle on my stunter. It works fine except, like Phil said, the springy wires were pointing the plane where I didn't want it to go. Especially at the tops of loops and low tension situations. I cut them short, to 2" overhang and it solved that problem nicely. It fits my wide hand where most don't. I cannot get 4 fingers in a Hotrock and most others I have tried. Watt Moore gave me one he makes and it fits nicely, but needs sanding and finishing before I use it.

Thanks Rusty, There's a narrow version of the handle? or do you mean that you use a narrow line-spacing? I have trouble finding gloves that fit me. My hands are wide too. Got any pics of the handle that Watt gave you? I love making things.. and have often thought about making a handle. I have the cable and ferrules already.
No one has commented on having used that Fourmost fuel filter... I've never used a filter, and I've been taking chances running my reedies all these years. With my luck... I'll have a piece of grit foul the reed on race day.
