Auto World Vega Funny Car?
Has Anyone here heard of any details Pertaining to the Auto world Vega Funny Car? I have photos of the Prototype but Evidently the project did not go over that well. If You check on R/C Groups.com You will see a discussion about it. I believe a person Named Jeff Clemence was taking Pre orders some years back at a toy show. I can't believe that China could not make a good running engine for these cars. I have learned more about the Cox Engines and cars from collecting for the last ten years plus than I knew back in the !970"s as a Kid. You really do not have to be a Scientist to get these engines to run. there are photos of the vega on the last page of the 2008 auto world catalog.

I always loved the real life V8 Vegas. A guy at the local drag strip had one with a 427 in it. Good lord, I'd be scared to pull the trigger on that thing.

I do recall that project and as far as I'm aware it never took off. I e-mailed that fellow a few years ago in regards to the Pinto he was also offering. I never received a response. However, he did have some prototype models that looked quite nice. We used to race in a large parking lot on a Sunday back when most stores were closed on Sunday. We would have 10 or more guys racing. What a great time that was. Ken

I thought this thread was about the Cox 0.049 powered Vega funny car. I have one, unused (but without the box).
And FWIW, my brother and I dropped a 283 into his 1971 Vega when this was "the thing to do".
It was fast, couldn't go over bumps or around corners, rode like a lumberwagon, overheated and the headers always came loose.
It went probably about as fast as your typical 400ci GTO or equivlent, but wasn't very practical.

Re: Auto World Vega Funny Car?
When I was a kid, I had a neighbor that put a big block in an old Gremlin Pro-Street car. It was definitely fast but it was really no good for anything other than going in a straight line and even then it was quite squirrelly.706jim wrote:And FWIW, my brother and I dropped a 283 into his 1971 Vega when this was "the thing to do".
