Cox Mini-Stunt Tuesday..."The Video" !
Got a feeling that the wind MIGHT back off a little toward sunset...OK, I felt like flying and just HOPED it'd calm down...which it did.
Passing by the PT-19, I dragged my dust-covered-run-many-times-but-never-flown Cox Mini Stunt out into the daylight. I was a teenager the last time I'd flown one of these little biplanes, helping a local kid fly his Christmas "Red Baron" version. Yes, it ended just like you're thinking.
Anyway, I figured it was time for this little greenie to step up, and take it's shot at glory. Fiddling with it, I remembered why it got stuck away in the first place: it's controls had a habit of sticking with the elevator in neutral. I tracked this down to it's pushrod, at the bellcrank end, locking against a molded brace inside the fuselage.
I pulled the plane apart and, with a deft twist of my pliers, bent the offending wire to make it miss the brace, AND reinstalled it in the bellcrank's outer hole while I was at it.
Dragging what seemed like half my shop out into the front yard to fly this tiny sucker, I finally got settled and cranked up the mighty Pee Wee.
The .020 can be cranky about it's needle setting, and I need to mess with it a bit more, or replace it with a friendlier one, but I still managed to get in several good flights. When the Pee Wee is really going, the plane is actually fairly frisky, and I even pulled off what could be generously referred to as 'loops'. With a hotter engine, the Mini Stunt might actually pull a decent loop and wingover.
The landings are the standard little-plane-on-grass-hit-tumble-stop affairs, but I made it through six or seven flights with just a broken prop.

Hauling at it's leash like a big dog:

The Mini Stunt pulls into it's loop.

It's pullout was rather low...

Yeah...but there will always be some of these planes, parked on shelves, or in boxes SOMEWHERE, that may end up being lost in a house fire or chucked in a dumpster by an unappreciative spouse.
So, at least a few get to show their stuff, doing what Mr. Cox originally envisioned.
Speaking of which:

Really nice Kim.
The photos are great. I have never seen a Pee wee size plane fly.
Can you please also paste the link to the video, I cannot watch the video as it is. I cannot click on it to watch it.
Will appreciate it. I also want to see how it flies.

Thanks Rusty. Yes it is working.
The problem is that I do not even see the window as you are discribing. I only see the open space where the window should be that you posted. So I cannot select it or even click on it. I do not know why I cannot see it in the forum as you guys are.

Hey Theo,
It may be the long way around, but if you go to YouTube and search for 'wintersportster', my name there, you'll be able to see it.

Re: Cox Mini-Stunt Tuesday..."The Video" !
Man that little Stunt moves right along on 35%, nice video! What prop did you use? I can only find 4.5/2 and 4/2.5 the latter is what come on them.
My first powered model was a Stinker when I was about 8, me and my brother flew it till it fell apart. They hold up pretty good over the grass.
I have two Stinkers, the NIB sits on the shelf and reminds me of Dad and my childhood when I see it, the other is for flying.
Since I've never flown it maybe its for collecting too.

You will notice a big difference with the 3 bladed prop.

Hey Kim. I meant to comment on this when you 1st posted it. It looks like so much fun! I love the ramp with the stooge. It's so worth the effort to set something like that up. Where I work, they have 4' x 8' and 5' x 10' corrugated cardboard panels that cover the foam-board sheet stock that we use. They just get thrown away.. and I'm gonna' grab some for a runway!
Glad to see you back flying your models! Great photos and vid!!!

"Making hay while the sun shines" as they say !!!
Yeah, like you, I HATE to see stuff go to waste. My "Main Ramp" consists of a couple pieces of paneling that were left next to the dumpsters at the airport. The trash guys apparently weren't gonna physically pick them up and chuck them, so I moved with lightning-dumpster-diver-speed, and plopped them down in front on my little house...instant runway...AND a handy place to park my feet during early morning coffee !!!! !
Thanks a bunch !!!
The Mini looks rather spiffy with it's new prop !!!!

Hang on!
When I built my Little Gem the review said to use the 4.2x2. It also said if you wish to VOG use the 3 blade.
