My report on the Breezy Hill Flyers' Facebook Page:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, November 20th, 2016

Billy and I had us a cool Sunday afternoon up on Breezy Hill, cranking our control line planes through the blue sky.

The predicted 4 MPH winds turned out to be a little higher than that...figure maybe 10 or so with gusts shifting from the north to northwest, but we managed.

Control line planes like their stunts on the downwind side of the circle (helps keep their lines tight), so Billy and I were watching our planes dart in and out of the bright sun.

Still, we ran Billy's Flite Streak and my Super Ringmaster for some great flights. I had my Nobler along, but had forgotten the new lines I'd set up for the .40-powered stunter, so it sat out the day. Billy was going to test fly the Ringmaster Junior he rescued at the Columbia Swap Meet a few weeks ago, but decided to wait for a better day.

He was going for the 'Most Saves' award as his Streak lost line tension several times in the wind, but always snapped back to the outside of the circle in time for him to recover. This made it twice as painful when his plane's pushrod apparently snapped through it's elevator horn coming over the top, and slammed the model straight into the turf.

The fuse was snapped and it's wing shattered at it's base. The engine (and it's prop!!) survived, though packed with dirt. Billy thinks the wing can be patched and fit to a new fuselage, so the Flite Streak ought to be back in action.

We were both chilled down at this point and so decided to call it a day.

Think we may be back at Breezy Hill shortly, participating in one member's suggestion to have a 'Black Fly-Day' following Thanksgiving !!

Also, it was great to meet Wayne and his wife Kathy as they celebrated Wayne's liberation from a long hospital stay. He's another member with great stories of control line adventures from back in the day. Here's hoping for his continued recovery and good times !!!

Thanks!  Yeah, we had us a day alright !

Billy also got to test run the engine on the Big Stick he just bought.  The engine is fine...the plane needs a little work!
