Early Model Cox RR-1
Does anyone know if the early Cox RR-1s left the factory with backplates with fuel vents? I have seen at least five of these on ebay that had the stunt tanks with fuel vents in the back plate too. One is currently for sale and you can see what I mean.

I have only noticed this on the silver/blue version, which leads me to believe that they may have left the factory that way. The Cox Handbook does not indicate that this was the case, but it seems odd that so many of these (some in excellent condition) would have been modified after the fact. Thanks, Andy

Yes, the earlier RR-1 engines had backplates with fuel vents however they were not drilled all the way through.
