Here's some of what I have in my library. I am missing one book.. DAMMIT!  a large hard-bound on  vintage military "Aircraft Nose-Art".. which was an "awesome resource... It kills me, that I can't find it.

Let me first introduce a USPS 100 year commemorative collectible from 2003 of the "Wright Bros."  1st flight. I really need to frame it.. but it has kept safe stuffed in-between my other large hard-bound books.

There's also several old books on aero-modeling.. that I have in my archives.. (not including the numerous magazine-article/contributions that you members have contributed..)

Some of my older books..

Bill Dean's book of balsa models

an old library book...

Of course today; we have the internet and YouTube to search.. for endless hours of content.. but web-links can't be "handed-down" in the same way as material-possessions. Also.. a "book" always loads... as long as the pages can be read.

The cover of mine looked different than that Rod.. and I didn't note the author when I had the book. Is that yours? It was a wicked book...  with tons of illustrations.

Yeah, found it amongst my late brother's stuff.  He was Airforce.  Anything you can remember from it that might help confirm this is the one?
Here's the back cover. 144 pages, 250 illustrations.

I remember mine as having a blue-paper cover.. but that could have changed through the years. It was a gift from the late 1980's that may have come from "Tailwinds".. but searching their site comes up with nothing. Nothing on Google-images looks close either.

This one says 1992 & includes the Gulf War, so it's probably not it.

Three of my favorites.

Prior to google, these were my constant references.  After it arrived I sadly retired the volumes to a bookcase.

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning by Warren Bodie a favorite.  Opening it I rediscovered a newspaper article folded between the pages about "Glacier Girl" see google Sad although I feel most readers here already know the story.  The book was valuable to me in reconstructing my model from the extensive research by Mr. Bodie to the sketches in the back of the book.  The other two are mainly coffee table books but contain marvelous pictures like those shown above.

My search is on for Rod's nose art book.  Love it.

Here are some of mine:

Aircraft books/media/commemoratives Image27

The SR-71 book is interesting, not much technical data but a lot of stories about the training of the crew and also descriptions of some of the sorties.

The Spitfire book tells a lot of history and politics that were going on during the time. I haven't read the "Decisive Duel" yet, only skimmed, seems interesting. The little "Observer's" book is just a reminder of how it was before the internet Smile Lots of technical data and very small but blurred black and white photos.

The one on the right is a text book about aerodynamics and flight mechanics, meant for the basic course in aviation studies in the university... Puts me to sleep in 10 minutes lol! Lots of theory.

I also have some books of war stories from the WWII Finnish front and a couple of biographies of the Finnish fighter aces.

In addition to these I have Roy Braybrook's picture books of F-4, F-14, F-16 and F-18. Lots of nice pictures, these are in my son's bookcase currently. He also has a few airplane books of his own.

Cold war and spy planes are interesting, I would like to find more books about them, as well as about early times of NASA and the early record attempts and the projects behind them.

I have some books about raceplanes. "The Speed Seekers" is about the development of the raceplane in the 20's. Then I have a few pre- and post war technical books about general aicraft engineering, Hispano Suiza V8 and V12, De Havilland Gipsy Major, magnetos.... I also have biographies about pilot and engineers as Ernst Udet, Guynemer, Jean Mermoz and also a book that tells the story of the recovery of St Exupéry's P38 near Corsica. At the moment I'm reading a book about René Leduc, the first engineer to make a ram jet airplane.

Your "The Speed Seekers" book must be fascinating.. and there's little doubt that your "Caudron" CEF Speed-Contest model was inspired by the book pictured below it!
