Pee Wee .020 Engine Kit
Does anyone have the Pee Wee engine kit and could post a couple pics of it? The great Doc Hepperle shows it on his site but it's a low rez picture and only shows the front side. Thanks, and I welcome any anecdotes or history regarding the item as well.

Re: Pee Wee .020 Engine Kit
Was not sure just what a "pee wee engine kit" was. Had to research Doc's web site to find it. Was only in production for only one year, so I'd think NOS examples will be a very rare find.
"A noticeable part of the production costs was the assembly of the engines. On the other hand, modelers are usually interested in building something of their own. Therefore Cox offered a Pee Wee .020 in kit form. Obviously sales were not up to expectations so that this idea was dropped after about 1 year"
Now I look at it, it was a very good idea. We all took apart our engines anyway, why not buy em that way? I think they just did not promote it well enough. The plastic car kits (amf revell? ) could be built as stock, strip or custom depending on the parts you chose to use.

Pee Wee kit
What a find! Especially that adorable half can of fuel.
But I could see that only too often, a youngster (or dad for that matter) could muck things up by overtightening the components or stripping those fussy little 2-56 screws.

Those two items would be the "Holy Grail" for Cox collectors, I've never seen one either.

Ha "no bigger than a pencil eraser".....My mind immediately goes to #2 lead pencil, but falters knowing the .049 piston is much larger
Don't remember what "size" the "fat pencil" in kindergarten were but maybe that is what they refer to

That's cool. I think that yes, it is a good idea as well, seeing as most of us do take a new engine apart to look for left over filings and such anyways.
