As most of you know the Anderson Baby Spitfire was one of the first (1949-'50) 1/2a engines on the market and probably was the first sold coast to coast. But what is seldom is seen is that they also made "RTF" control line airplanes, only out of balsa.
I was watching this F-65 model (c. 1951) on eBay the last week with great interest as its the nicest one i've seen. These were also offered as a "ARF" as were the Spitzy Dust'r and possibly the TriPacer.

Wonder what the reserve was? I kinda recognize the seller's name, but can't say for sure?

I was guessing some where in the mid threes? I sold the RTF Dust'r 3-4 years ago, for about that, but it was in a cardboard shipping box.

There's also a very rare "plastic RTF" on eBay now as well.

Would this be the one?

I'm torn. I would really like to start a collection of those pristine NIB models, but my inclination would be to tear into them like a dog with a bone. That would not do anyone any good, not me, the model, or a future collector.

I follow/followed all of those auctions that are mentioned. Mostly to see the interest that they generate in number of bids and the final price. I bid on many, win few. But I did find a P-39 last night with only two bids at a most reasonable shipped price. It should arrive this week. Smile Smile

What really peaks my interest is that out-of-the-box dust'r Spitzy. What a beautiful airplane model. The all white pilot reminds me of the one that came with my Cyclone model of many years ago. I disposed of the model but kept the pilot, but he's gone AWOL somewhere.

I've never been a big fan of NIB collectibles, i like the fun of restoration and of course the lower cost.

The Dust'r (their spelling) is pretty neat, the plastic pilot is attached to a cork to plug fill hole, the fuselage is hollow and has a spring door on bottom and is controlled with a third string, so a kid can crop dust with corn starch or whatever their favorite powder is.

Been trying to move my collection to NIB models preferably still sealed from the factory for the last year or two.
I'll sell the open box model I have to help offset cost.

To bad about that P-40 canopy, can't replace it without breaking into the box.

I have several NIB Airfield R/C Skyraider models with a similar problem, pilots heads are rolling around inside the canopys and the canopys don't come off.
