Wanted ok cub 099 crankcase and prop drive

Post  chevyiron420 Thu Mar 26, 2015 7:09 pm

Guy's, I dont have much money to spend on this repair, but I need a crankcase and drive washer for my cub 099.
I have this engine on a custom sized ringmaster and I like it a lot. What happened was, the prop drive had a little bend in it that I didnt notice. All was well untill I try'ed some nose weight in the form of a aluminum spinner. It wore the case out in one flight. It still runs, but it leaks air and runs like crap now. The rest of the engine is great. Oh yeah its the one with no radial mounting. If anyone has some parts they will let go, let me know please.

Have access to a lathe? Sounds like a candidate for a brass sleeve. It is an "easy" job as you machine out about .010 (or more) then either heat the case, or freeze the insert, or both, to shrink fit the assembly together. There are lookup tables for shrink fit all over the web. Then machine back to the proper fit. No exotic tooling is required, just a small diameter boring bar and kit to align the case properly.

Or you could just buy one or two more for spares or use.

They really are a very low cost engine, but IMHO not a bad one for an oldie.

I've had a couple of them as yours is, and have one at the moment in a FF Faultless Chick bipe......Starts up in a couple of flicks and runs well.

Eric, I dont have any metal back plates, both my widows are plastic. Twenty five is more than I want to spend. It sounds like your engine would be a runner as is, all I need is a parts motor.
Thanks Phil

Wanted Bushing material

Post  706jim Fri Mar 27, 2015 7:42 pm

Brass is better than nothing, but if you can, use bronze as it will be a better bearing material.

Gossie -  please accept my humble apology. I by accident touched the - on the margin of your prior post......I gave you a negative vote. I am sorry, I did not intend to do that. I'm using a iPod tablet and to move up or down I slide my finger up or down this side of the screen and hit your negative sign by mistake, again it am sorry. I've got dumb thumbs when flying, now I've got dumb finger when sliding thru the forum! I owe you a couple of greenies to even out the red. Rene   Embarassed

I have no idea what that all means to be honest.........but if it's bad your forgiven as I don't really care either way.......negative or positive votes mean not a thing to me. Never even knew they were here to play with.
I can't even put pics up here on this site so why should I worry about voting or anything?

And talking about being DUMB.........I just read an article in the newspaper that "dumb" phones were coming back because sensible people were sick and tired of "smart" phones, and I can't blame them. Have you taken a ride in bus, tram or train recently? Everyone seems to be playing phone. God knows what they are doing.......The mind boggles.

I've had three of those awful things over the past three years because they were forced on my by my beautiful children, and I hated them so much after a week or two I went back to my "dumb" phone..........My "dumb" phone is such a beautiful thing as it actually sends texts, sends them to me and even calls me to say hello, and I say hello back, and I can do all of that in reverse.

Off topic finished..........Back to OK Cub.09s.
