The fuse looks like a Beginner Ringmaster, wing tips and tail feathers look different. I need to get a laser cutter to cut ribs.

hopefully by mid summer i will be ready to cut some sort of 1/2A stunt plane. my favorite was the baby ringmaster.. even added ailerons to the last couple i built.
this one is based on the beginner ringmaster. a little more wing, my own shape throughout the tail and i used 1/8" thick balsa for the rudder, stabilizer and elevator instead of the 3/32" that the drawing calls for. it will also have the addition of a rubber band engine mount. want it to be a slow, strong flyer.

Re: Lunch Time Laser'in
Consider stretching a baby ringmaster to sky ray proportions, or at least flite streak proportions. The longer tail with appropriately longer nose should be more stable and turn better.

Sounds like a plan Phil. I will have to do a little searching when the time comes.

Here's the flite streak.

The skyray is current production so it is not on outerzone.

Me too. Man! Think of how fast I could crank out new planes and try new ideas... I wonder how much a hobbyist cutter would cost.

i can't wait myself.... i'm not sure how much of a laser you need for balsa. i went by the sheet i have for the machine and you have to tweak from there. i needed half as much power as i used for the 1/8" sheet. i know this because i used the same power setting and cut the 1/4" balsa just about right. plywood obviously requires a bit more power

Mark I looked in to building a laser cutter years ago now that I have a computer friend and I just spent an hour doing it again LOOK http://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-cutter-start-slicing-stuff-for-under-50-dol/ and again e-bay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=lasers&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1311.R10.TR11.TRC1.A0.H1.Xlaser.TRS0&_nkw=laser+cutter&_sacat=0 the easy redirected Eric

Very nice man, can't wait to hear how it flies. That design would look like it would fly well scaled up for a TD .09 as well.

Thanks! If I ever end up with a TD .09 it would Grace a ship more worthy. Some sort of sporty stunt plane. Babee Ringmaster was my favorite.
Sure hope we get a break in the weather some time soon. Mid week next week is looking promising. May bee able to get out after work next week.....

Re: Lunch Time Laser'in
Would love a laser setup myself those wheels look great. My wildcat is painted up in Lusterkote too on top of Monokote turned out good. Lusterkote might be a bit pricy but it's a good paint, my old bingo is painted with Lustercote and it's Saito .91S has always been on a 30% Heli diet and the paint laughs at the nitro content lol and it's been on it since the late 90's. Speaking of my Saito, Got to put new bearings in that motor now main bearing is getting kinda rough. Might do a video of the bearing change...Hmm Again, great job man (Bandit)

Re: Lunch Time Laser'in
thanks! the next set will be tweaked a bit. they have Good-Year and rotational laser etched on them as well but should have been a little smaller or the side of the tire a bit wider. the top edge of the lettering was lost in the cut. sorry for the picture quality. iphone instead of pulling out the camera
if i do some playing i can get some contour to the wheel as well.

Love the wheels Rog!! I made some on the router.. but I can't make spokes that look that good.. or do the etching either! It would be cool on your next set to etch; Harris 1.25" x .250" or whatever size they are!

now that's a good idea! i have bits down to 1/16" on the cnn router table but it's slow going. maybee a miniature tapered or v-grove bit would allow you to carve some lettering.
the laser is pretty fast at it and no issues holding the material. it's still mesmerizing to watch it run
