Handle from Center of Gravity?? if we didn't have the cheapo plastic one that came with the plane, I used a 3 or 4inch dowel with a nail in each end! I did have a CoxReely control handle with the duel spools, with the pin adjustment to even out the lines...... Spent more time untangling those reels than I did flying with it, hence the "stick"

I always used the outer most locations for the control lines. Maybe Cribbs or Rusty could provide input as to the use of the "medium" and "close" positions. I've always assumed that the close spaced lines would produce very little control input, which did little in helping to do a loop while flying a plastic brick.

Eric, the Carl Goldberg handle was ok for sport flying. The plastic when it was new was fragile. Seeing that the handle is nearing 25-30 yrs old I would caution the use of it. Those handles were made from a very brittle plastic and the Goldberg handle is hollow in the middle as it's two halves glued together. The break point on those handles were usually around the area the Dacron spool is located in the package. In addition, the center piece locked the line into the handle and you adjusted for neutral by pushing it out, sliding the lines and returning it to the locked position. This quickly failed and could slip resulting in lack of control or a wreck. I fly with a very durable handle and one that can sustain a lot of punishment. I wouldn't recommend you using it. Ken

I had one but never used it. One of our other forum members has it now, don't recall who. I do still use one of the flat swirly colored green handles for my 35' lines, but have had one of those break while I was test flying my Jumpin' Bean after repairs. I was left holding the hand grip while the plane left with the rest of it and crashed vertically under full power into the sidewalk at the church. Took care of the Black Widow, but the plane was okay. Ken's right, they are risky.

Thanks Ken and Rusty , Think I will just pass it on and get back to making the handles that I was working on . I have never had a handle break but I sure don't need any extra problems Mad

I have a bunch of old plastic handles that I'll probably never use.

Handle from CG ? Handle10

Notice that I also have a Goldberg one like your's. The "purple" handle (center-left) is a Guillows #125. I generally used to use the various Cox handles with Dacron line for all my 1/2A's.

Got one of these too.. (check-out the "Mauler" C/L Navy-carrier model in the ad.) I had the 3-line bell-crank too.. but I haven't been able to find it. This is an "old-school" throttle-control method. Today a 2.4 GHz radio-system is used to drive a throttle-servo.

I like this "Sagan" handle.. but I don't know where you'd find one. I added alternate line-spacings and changed the adjuster-plate's clamp-screw from a button-head to a machine-screw with a wing-nut. (the little hex-wrench could be easily lost at the field) These mods were made for flying my CEF speed model.

I hear ya' man.. I consider myself to be an organized person.. but I'm challenged with a shrinking small work/storage-space and have boxes of assorted stuff that's not readily accessible.

Here are views from the opposite long-sides of my shop..

I have a box-full of stuff labelled "pegboard items".. that I don't have wall-space for.. (and that's just the tip of the iceberg..)

Handle from CG ? Pegboa10

I guess it would help if I relocated these..

Most are 60's muscle-cars and various hotrods. Approx. 50-60 all collected in the last 2 years.
