Re: Fox 19 good / bad ?
I bolted a Fox .25 of the same vintage onto my Super Clown at one time. It pulled it almost as well as the Fox .35, almost....
The .19 is similar in power, it could be useful to pull a light .35 sized ship around well enough. They are quite loud and don't 4-2-4 well.

Re: Fox 19 good / bad ?
The .19 and .25 share the same case. Yes mine has the bolt on carb assy. I am told the carb is fragile and tends to snap of, taking the case with it upon crashing.
It weighs just slightly less than a Fox .35 which has more grunt. That is why I went back to the Fox .35

Thanks Ron , I think I will pass it along as I have 19s that are a lot lighter and have no use for it .

The Fox .19 weighs around 6.5 oz
If you have .19's that weigh less I would love to know what they are.

Good engine
Same bore and stroke as the original 1953 Fox 19 Stunt. The Brits used the RC version and others for club racing; they found them excellent. I flew mine for a couple of seasons in a Midwest foam Chipmunk back in 1974. Used a Heathkit GD 19 rcv with Heath KPS 10 servos; a period miniature setup.
The engine throttled well and the plane did wonderful snap rolls and spins.
I don't know about the strength of the engine. I would worry about any engine taking a hit hard enough to break off the throttle of the Fox.

Some either file the screws so they will break before the case or replace the screws with plastic ones.

Re: Fox 19 good / bad ?
Filing a steep angle on the venturi stack in my opinion yields better runs. That flat top straight up stack in my opinion is a very poor design and I feel it creates a vacuum and also makes it difficult to choke the engine at least for my hands. The needle valve assembly on this engine is also shared by Fox .15's, .25's. and a few others. The assembly is typical Fox quality which I feel is responsible for many not liking the engine. Don't load this engine. They do much better with light pitch props and wood props. These do like to turn up. The bolt pattern is identical to most of the Fox engines .19-.35 so they can be interchanged. Ken
