Craigslist score
I was trolling Craigslist looking for engines and came across a heck of a deal. All he wanted was $10.00 each for the engines and he would toss in some other stuff. He send me a poor quality picture of the engines and I figured I'd take a chance. I got a nice Norvel .061 plus a new in bag fuel tank/mount, a Tee Dee .051, a Black Widow, a Cox power pod and several new props and glow heads. $35.00 shipped and thank the nitro God he uses PayPal.
The Tee Dee has a frozen head, but I was able to get the cylinder off and there is a dimple in the top of the piston. I don't think I've ever see this before. Any opinions are welcomed.

if you hurry you can get that V-twin Cox on ebay before someone else snatches it up. LOL. I just posted it.
I have seen the dimple in the head, but I can't remember why right now. It's late and something happens when you get old, but I can't remember what it is. Bet you didn't see that coming.
p.s. is it a brand new head with a glaze coating on it?

if the dimple was towards the top of the piston it would indicate the rod was too tight, but it looks like it is dimpled towards the bottom of the piston. The only answer I found, Google, was that possibly there was a gunk/hardened fuel/burnt oil buildup and it protruded downward towards the piston from the glow head??
over and out.

Re: Craigslist score
Anytime I've seen that dimple, it was a indication of the rod just about ready to hatch through the top of the piston crown. All of my 1980 Black Widow engines popped the rod through the top of the piston. It starts as a dimple and becomes a small hole. If I knew more about setting the rod back then it would've been a non issue but they were inexpensive. Ken

Ken: I agree, Jserere (sp) never said which way the dimple went. I was online when he posted the item and I answered within a few minutes, but I guess he had left already.

Re: Craigslist score
The dimple is coming out the topside. I was able to scrounge up a decent cylinder to replace it. Thanks for the responces all.
