22.200 rpm being a non believer made a 1 mm spacer plate from aluminium

Re: Killer bee red backplate
Hi James clive,
I have several of those backplates and have never used them as i also thought more gap would be needed and that maybe i would need to make a firewall with a hole in it. I never really asked anyone either way, ut now that you have done so, and tested, I will get mine out and give them a go!
Thanks.

However, if used on a wooden backplate, when tightened down, it may squish some and make less that a .008 gap.

Re: Killer bee red backplate
On wood hand crafted test stands I have taken a small chisel and created a scooped out channel. It’s not needed though as seen above. I just like the idea of knowing than induction is not a variable when sorting problems.

An easy way to preserve correct intake clearance whether tank or
Backplate mounted is to cut a piece of 1 mm aluminium Sheet
Screw this to the firewall with 4 small self trappers then drill & secure
With 4 servo screws into the timber firewall hope this helps
Have done it many times never a failure
