Most of us here post pictures. "Without pictures it didn't happen" is a common phrase.

I'm a big fan of uncomplicated "point and shoot" cameras, and I have owned many. The best one I have ever found just so happens to be my first digital camera, an Olympus C3000. Only 3.3megapixels it out shoots all of my Nikons, Kodaks, and Canons with 3-4 times the pixels. (It's not all pixels, lenses too are important.)

I took thousands of pictures with it before it gave out, I didn't baby it. That's when I tried those others always being disappointed. Olympus doesn't make the C3000 anymore, no news flash there but there is ebay. Since, I have bought about seven of them, some for as little as $5.99, most $20.00 or less with SIM cards ranging from 8MB to 42MB. The knock on them (hense the low price) is the old style SIM card, most new computers do not support it. But my old HP does.

I'm not a photographer as many of you can readly see, I just point and shoot, where is, as is. But I have seen many great photos posted here. Just wondering about your favorite camera and it's adventures?

Not to worry Bob: I am a camera nut also. Bought my first "real" film camera in Japan in 1967, again in 1968 when I upgraded to the Canon Ft. Bought lots of lenses, close up adapters, etc. I shot about 4,000 pictures of Japan, Okinawa, South Korea, Taiwan, Hawaii, and Thailand. Wherever I was stationed in the good ole USAF, (like Ron C, but overseas). After I got out of the Air Force I continued to use the Canon Ft until it finally died soon after I married in 1972. I tried to have it repaired at local shops, but no one could get the bad part, so I shopped on ebay, (later in 2000+) and bought several Canon FT, AE and Pellix models which had the bad film advance parts. I still have about 8 of those in the closet, plus another Canon FT I bought to replace the old one. Soon after the film advance counter on that one failed, different problem. I gave up on film cameras. In about 2002 my youngest daughter graduated college and her boyfriend-fiance who worked for Canon USA got me a Canon EOS digital camera at a decent price so I was taking pics like crazy again. No film to waste.  The camera was stolen among other items in 2007 when our house was broken into. The insurance company paid for about 1/2 of the cost of a new camera, but by now I was sold on digital. New lenses, adapters, filters, closeup lenses.   I'll try to take a picture of the Canon family soon. I think if I back way, way across the room I'll be able to get all the cameras, lenses into the frame. LOL lol!

Thanks HD, I don't feel so lonely now. Smile I knew there must be other camera nuts out there.

You must have one heck of a South Pacific album. I have never owned a really nice camera, closest is my Nikon L120 my skills don't justify anything better.

I meant to respond to this post earlier .... Smile

I am by no means a pro photographer, but I do love to take pictures. Lots of point and shoots I've owned.

When I want those really nice pictures, I grab my Canon Powershot SX20is. Nothing fancy, but its a really great camera. It takes great HD videos, but its downfall is that I always have to convert the format for web/youtube use. However it does have an awesome macro lens .... close up shots are brilliant.

I'm not obsessed .... I treat photography much the same way I do my control lining. I just like to have fun with it. I watch for framing and light directions. GIMP puts the final touches on all my pictures .... especially exposure levels. No camera I've had ever gets it right, so software helps me to get that perfect picture.

Of course, nowadays a phone camera gets a workout, simply because its handy. But those special occasions, I'm always grabbing my Canon.

I still have an old Canon 35mm around here somewhere. Got it when I was 14-15 years old, and have no doubt if I loaded a roll of film it would work great today.

But I do love my digital pictures. Smile

geez Bob, you aren't giving us enough time to gather our thoughts and pictures in one place.......my ADHD is in hyperdrive and I can't keep up......Bipe builds, sanding, paint shopping, searching for decals, then OMG you got me off on the LED flashlight tangent, inventorying my keychain LEDs, pocket flashlight, camping led lamps, and 3800 lumen tactical weaponry......now We're into cameras...kodak Brownie , argus 35mm brick, Pentax , Cannon, then Panasonic VHS , my first digital was a Sony, Vivitar, some off brands, and a couple of Nikon 16mp, SIM cards, SDHD cards,   Whew, I can't keep up with it all any more....DO NOT EVEN MENTION that new "bind and fly" stuff that's out dating all my Futaba gear!!!  I just want to trade in my Dacron line for some spider wire and fly in circles till I fall down! RC Plane    Oh, yeah I also have a "hand me up"  ( my son bought the new i phone so I received his "old" ) I phone with a camera for pictures and movies I'm still learning to use.
