Re: Lil' Roughneck 049 flight video
Yes, 1/2A Nut maybe I should fly a bit closer...I am not so much worried about the car, the plane reacts well to rudder and elevator control, but the speed is really amazing, and I have had already a couple of unplanned landings (you can be straightforward and call them crashes) since I started to fly R/C... I was thinking of adding an exhaust throttle but that would make the belly of the plane even more crowded with servos and cabling...strangely enough the biggest challenge for me in building R/C planes is to locate and fix the freakin' servos properly so that the pushrods do not jam.....it takes me as long to build the fuse and wings altogether as the placement of servos, battery and fuel tank...I wonder how you could place yours in the little Skorches without messing up the plane interior..

I know it doesn't disappear into the clouds.. but I can't keep track of that airplane while watching full-screen on my 15" monitor. I know it's not the same for the pilot.. but man
that's a fast little model! Would slightly increasing the elevator-area improve the glide for better landings?

Re: Lil' Roughneck 049 flight video
Thanks, Roddie,
the plane was designed for a TD020 and I am muscling it with a 049 Reedie that adds a bit of extra weight. It weighs around 8 oz when filled with 1 oz or so fuel, engine and fuel together -even if the tank is empty - compromise the gliding qualities for sure. Plus it is a low wing design with dihedral and tends to stall unless the gliding speed is high enough.

I have a 22" monitor bit easier to see with the option to send the video feed to a 34" LED tv for
a larger view via HDMI.
You can use a micro servo for the throttle to save room something around 4g weight.
Plastic tube with thin piano wire will keep it from rubbing on anything and allow some
curve in the run if need be. I prefer throttle on all my projects when possible gives you
the option to land at anytime for whatever the reason or issue is but also allows you
to do some nice slow video passes for crisp clean still shots to post here is an example
Of course its not as good as an actual hi resolution camera shot but least something
pulled from the 1080P video.
