Re: Hobbico fuel
Thanks guys and the reason for asking is because we have several 1,000 of the widgets as in the pictures and was wondering what to do with them.
OD is 0.738" (18.76mm) and are too big to fit the old Cox fuel cans. we believe they were used for the plastic fuel bottles supplied in the later-year starter kits but it sounds as if Hobbico has now made the hole much bigger on their fuel bottles.
An idea was to sell them with a length of fuel hose but they have to fit an application of course.

.738", I'm going out to the shop to see what it will fit. That would be a handy filler. I see it has a screen in it too.

Re: Hobbico fuel
I put one of those on a craft store bottle as a filler bulb. I gave it away though. IIRC t was a 2 oz bottle with a threaded neck and flip cap. I cut the center out of cap to clamp the plug in. It likely came from the cooking and cake decorating section.
The real problem is that the nipple on the plug is too short to hold the fuel line as nicely as I would have liked.

We have actually been popping out the screens:

It should be marketed as a Cox fuel can filler cap. The nipple is actually quite long (0.3" / 7mm) and holds some of our fuel lines quite well, especially the black neoprene one.
Re: Hobbico fuel
Bernie, if it's not too late, leave the screen in one of them. I'll e-mail you soon about that other part you've got for me.
Thanks
Rusty

Re: Hobbico fuel
Look like they will fit in the old pint Hobbico Super 1/2a fuel bottle (the one that was NOT the proper oil content)
That said if the price is right I will get a few on my next order

Probably 95 cents with the screen inside.

I believe I worked "small" silicone line on with a fair bit of effort to satisfactory results. The black line that came in the package would not stay on...but it might have been too old and not very good anymore.

Re: Hobbico fuel
Nice to have a screen in the cap/stopper. I've seen assortments of small plastic bottles at Walmart, in the Health and Beauty dept. in the "Travel-size" bins. Pump-sprayers.. hand-lotion dispensers.. etc. Chances are.. you'd be transferring fuel into them from a larger bottle.. to use for 1/2A fueling.. or a primer-bottle. A filter-screen is a good idea. Remember the "Zoom-Spout" oilers? They'd make a cool primer bottle!
Re: Hobbico fuel
Those ones are for the plastic Estes-Cox fuel bottles.
The metal cans used a slightly different filter cap, the new ones made for the plastic bottles don't fit the old metal cans...not without some modifying at least.
new ones don't fit in the metal cans, not unless you can modify it.
Try to preserve the old ones for the metal cans if you can. Some people may want them for their collector cans.

Re: Hobbico fuel
Yes, that's what I meant. They fit the later-year plastic bottles but not the old cans and we don't have any of the older-style caps.
