Sanwa servo connector conversion Empty Sanwa servo connector conversion

I have 2 Sanwa servos nr SM-392. I would like to swap the original connector for a Futaba style connector. Does anyone know which cable goes where? The Sanwa connector is marked as follows:

white marked cable: 3021
middle cable: MX-J
3rd cable: 1

Thanks

Overlord: It should be exactly the same.
Flat side of Futaba - ground
                 middle - + voltage
end with tab - signal    right to left as seen in photo, black connector
The sanwa wire with stripe is either ground or signal I can't remember. I can look for an old servo and repost later.

edited 11-7-2015 11:18p.m. PST  - after searching my inventory I couldn't find any of the cox-sanwa servos in the original condition. Besides as I remember they were so slow I crashed a plane while waiting for the servo to move from neutral to up elevator. No LOL here. So I went to google and found this from RC Groups.com and member soar-ne

"The old Sanwa plugs were the same as the Old Airtronics (I beleive they were the same company) plugs. You are right, the positive is one of the outside wire, the neg is the center wire and the signal is the other outside.
I have used Airtroncs servos on modern RX's and if you re-plug them they work great. I use a Excacto 11 knife blade and carefully pry up the little plastic locking tab and pull out the wire. It will then slide into a modern plug and lock in just fine.........."

Cox-Sanwa or Airtronics servo connections

So the "white marked cable or 3021" is signal, middle wire or "MJ-X" is ground and other outside wire or "1" is + voltage.
Personally I would open up one of the servos and double check the ground wire. It should go to a ground plane which will take up a lot of the circuit board area. The signal wire should go directly to a 8 or 16 pin chip and the (+) wire to the (+) voltage regulator, usually a 3 pin transistor looking device like a LM78L05, L for low power like that used in a small servo. hope this helps.

hope this helps courtesy of RC Groups and member soar-ne.

Good Luck

Happydad, thanks for your research. I read your post with great interest. Yesterday, I checked the Sanwa system with the battery pack and connector - which I could have done earlier lol! . The white marked cable is the positive. The middle is then negative and the last outer cable marked "1" on the connector is the signal. It's just as indicated on the Airtronics drawing, only the + cable is coloured red. It would be nice if the cables slide in the Futaba style plug directly, it would save me a soldering job.

Thanks again,

Lieven

Why not just carefully remove the + and ground wires with an exacto blade and exchange them as someone else suggested. Then the connector should be pinned the same, but a little too wide. I doubt the cox-sa was pins fit the Futaba connector. It might be time to check each wire for corrosion, etc.

I just finished replacing the connectors. The original Sanwa copper ends don't fit in the Futaba plastic housing unfortunately, as you mentioned. I replaced them all. The servos are now ready to be fitted in my snow plane!
