WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

If you unscrew the back plate and cylinder, you can remove the piston and connecting rod without pulling the crankshaft.

You will need to use the .010 wrench to remove the cylinder. If you don't have any get a pair from Cox International or EXModel Engines.

The .010 cylinder is extremely thin at the exhaust port so you must be careful not to turn a burr into the cylinder or even deform the cylinder rendering it useless. Use of a pliers is definitely NOT recommended. Heat from a hair dryer helps if the cylinder is stuck. Carefull not to melt the tank or carb body with the heat.

Welcome to the forum.

Everything Jason wrote.
Plus:
You can help prevent a burr, or marring the exhaust ports with a matchstick.
I can’t post a pic, but I’ll try to explain.
Take a paper match. Cut off the part that lights.
Cut the match lengthwise so the size of its width is the same as the exhaust port.
Soak the match in water and wrap it around the cylinder so that it protects the exhaust ports.
Use the .010 wrench and wiggle it into place. You may be able to remove the cylinder without any damage.
I’ve had some good success with this, but I’ve also had failures.
If the .010 wrench won’t fit, then use two matches and the .020 wrench.
