Early Enya .06 reed valve
Enya's first and only attempt at producing a reed valve engine. Ya, it will run backwards.
A little crispy when I got it, but it's complete and not mangled.

But it cleaned up well.

Shown with Enya's later .049 with a sort of throttle. I found it as a "parts" engine. The only thing it needed was a "C" clip to hold the throttle body in place.

I didn't remove the reed, I thought I would make sure a replacement was available before I did.

Bob, you sure do work wonders on them ole dirty engines. Have you ever started and run either of ones pictured? I have a NIB Enya 049 with the throttle. The throttle just has two different sized Venturi..slow and fast?

Not yet, I just got them yesterday. I took a chance and bought it as the seller said that it needed repairs. But all it needed was that "C" type clip to hold the "throttle body" on.
My other Enya .049 also is NIB and I didn't want to run it. But I'm curious as to how that "throttle" performs. Unlike normal carburetors where the spray bar is located right in the carburetor this one is located in a cavity in front of the adjustable venturi.
I will try to run the .06 but my parts guy (Bob Brooks) tells me that you can't find that reed, so I will be real careful if I do.

Re: Early Enya .06 reed valve
Thanks for posting those pictures gwillie, I will have to find those mounts. There are slight differences between the .06's. The cylinder on mine is "thin wall" construction, maybe because it's gas not diesel.

Different mounting structures too between the capacities. From two hole to three hole to four hole.

And Steve, I just used warm Simple Green and a tooth brush after disassembly. This one was not to badly soiled with cooked on castor, just surface dirt. On really dirty examples I boil them in a crock pot filled with anti freeze, an accepted method in the community.
