Re: How's the weather?
This year has been the mildest winter I can ever recall in these parts. We've been through some ups and downs in temps. I've never flown in February at all in 25 years. Our club has our "Philly Frosty Fly" on New Years Day and that kicks off the year. We've had a dusting of snow so far which amounted to 1". A bit concerning due to the fact that winter isn't over and we've had snowfalls of more than 3' in one storm in the past. As soon as you get that fuzzy feeling that spring is near, mother nature dumps one of those major storms and cripples the area. My hyacinths are up about 4" which is very concerning to me as they're fooled probably by the warm ground temps. Unfortunately, one frost will wipe them out and I won't see them bloom this year. I covered them up with mulch and leaves. That might make them even kick off sooner due to being insulated.
Seeing that we hadn't had any accumulation, the drivers are still driving like it's summer and when we finally do receive any freezing rain, snow, the roads become deadly. I have my fingers crossed that were out of the woods and nothing bad is in the future. My spider sense tells me otherwise.

We have had a very mild winter here in northern NJ also. But this morning I woke up to 9 degrees, the coldest we have had all winter!Saturday will be below freezing but Sunday will be warmer,in the 40's and 50's! it's been a strange winter so far.

Re: How's the weather?
Following some very stormy days, early spring weather finally found its way to Central Europe. Mid-day temperatures around 9 C (= 48.2F) again threw me to the sunny field to fly the Lil Roughneck today. The home assembled Killabee engine does not run such peaks as in mid-summer with 36C (96.8F) ambient temperature, the air is around 10% thicker now .. but I had several very good and strong 8 minutes flights and will continue tomorrow.

Re: How's the weather?
64 years ago this morning Mom and Dad were driving me to Manchester New Hampshire through a blizzard to catch a train to Boston where I would raise my hand and become a member of the U.S. Navy. Later that day I would find myself in Bainbridge Maryland just outside of Baltimore.
This morning I awoke to dusting of snow that is still accumulating. A small reminder of that day many years ago.

Re: How's the weather?
One more day of Autumn left for us and we're already 1/4 way through our stash of firewood with Winter to come.
The past week has been absolutely beautiful though. Crisp clear mornings, but an occasional early fog clearing to calm sunny days- great for flying- NO COMMENT!
Each day around 17ºc-18ºc with nights between 2ºc and 8ºc.
My son's looking forward to the ski season opening on June 22nd. Been out of work on the coast since the Covid thing struck, watching the best snow dumps in years up in the mountains, having already secured a job up there and hoping it would actually happen. A big relief for him. Hopefully it will be a good season and his job is steady under the restrictions.

Hey David the LilRoughneck is one of my favorit planes. Made for 020 engines, I fly it with a 049 Killer Bee 049 clone I assembled from parts.
Here is a link to my revamp project. If you need the plans send me your postal address in a personal message (pm) and I will send you the drawing by post.

Re: How's the weather?
Just started here a short time ago too. They say we are expected to get from 1 - 2 inches of it. However, the other day on our way home from my cousins, they had about what you have pictured there. And it is only about 10 miles north of me.....

Re: How's the weather?

6"+ of snow.

My poor tree, branches were just about touching the ground. It didn't lose it's leaves yet, usually turns a deep red color, not so much this year. A lot of weight on the branches with the snow. I walked around and lightly shook the branches I could reach while the snow was still loose, got them off the ground at least.
I got to use my plastic 1984 Toro S-620 single-stage on the driveway. Fired right up. I never got around to rebuilding the carb on the 5 horse Tecumseh on my 24" 2 stage Spirit snowblower. Dammit, I better find that time to do that LOL. Sounds like above average snowfall this season.
Re: How's the weather?
I might have to get my jacket out of the closet early this year. Normally I can hold off till mid November. Get used to colder temps that way. 50 degrees is still t shirt weather in WI.

At 50 I got the heat on and layered up outside lol. I haven’t seen frost since 2002. Homestead weather is the pits, Florida Bay one side and Atlantic on the other, Everglades everywhere all it does is rain rain and rain. Forrest Gump rain. I got a little break coming soon.

Like admin, we got about 4 inches of the white heavy snow here last night. Highways into the city to work were more wet than slippery.

Leaves? Yeah I got 'em.
Maple out front looked like this when I bought this property 10 years ago. I added the garage about a year later.

Looks like this now, but standing up straight. Somehow my software will not allow me to correct it but you get the idea. Lot's of leaves. I used to rake them up and toss them on the burn pile but no more. Beside it being environmentally unsound it was a lot of work. Now I just mulch them up with the lawn mower and let nature take it's course.
Fixed it.

"Severe clear" here today, not a cloud in the sky. Beautiful.
There is still some color in the ridge beside the house but peak color is well past.
