Christmas gift for my nephew?

Christmas gift for my nephew?
He's 12 years old.. my brother's boy..
Oak branches, surgical-tubing, a couple wood-screws and the leather from an old wallet made these. There were 3.. but my other brother's boy (two years older) saw them one day.. and asked his dad to ask me if he could have one. I was so delighted that he wanted it!
I'd include a bag of marbles for shot.. but I haven't seen those around in toy departments for years. My dad had saved some from his childhood.. a shooter and some cat-eyes! A small suede pouch with rawhide lacing would make a sweet ammo bag!

I can say first hand that if that's a gift for a twelve yr old, someone is going to be in a lot of trouble. I can speak from experience. While I think they certainly look cool, they probably work a lot better than they should. That is not a toy. Just my opinion of course. Ken

Thank you sir. You could spend $100
Terminator
or make one sorta ole-school.. like I did. I used wood-screws long enough to go through the thickness of the branch and pre-drilled pilot-holes for them. The screw points were filed-off.
You can use leather from an old shoe or wallet for the sling. I used an old wallet but the tongue of a worn-out leather work-boot would work great.

Ya, Put your eye out Red Rider.
Heck, I was hit by a car and spent six weeks in a hospital, fell off a cliff, got shot, and stood before a Juvenile Judge all before the age of 12. Boy's will be boy's.
Well, I have to admit, it was a BB gun that got me and the judge let me off without even a spanking.....
Gift's like that with a personal touch mean so much more roddie than something store bought. Good for you.

Goodness Bob,
You did a lot of living before the age of 12.
I took a pellet in the shoulder at 18, walked right in front of my buddy when he was firing, we dug it out with a pair of pliers

Re: Christmas gift for my nephew?
Well.. I haven't left the house since yesterday afternoon because my body is fighting off something. I've had a cold sore for a few days.. and my stomach has felt like crap since yesterday. Talk about messing up the holiday plans...
