First big block cox
I stopped in a local hobby shop yesterday for glue and found a Medallion 15. It has plier marks everywhere but it turns free and has good compression. Got it for $20!
When I got it home a found that the props I had (APC 7x6 and a wood 8x4) will need to be reamed out to fit the prop shaft. Is this a normal thing? Also, there appears to be a good bit of play, about 1/8' or more, in the drive shaft. Could the thrust washer just need to be seated better.
Also, is this a ball in socket piston or is it pinned.
Thanks in advance, and any other info on the engine would be welcome.

Medallion 15s can have either the ball socket piston or the later wrist pin/con rod setup.
The crankshaft endplay is a bit concerning. Medallions didn't come with a thrust washer normally. If someone used an electric starter then the drive plate could have a groove cut in it. Adding a thrust washer between the drive plate and crank case would fix most of the slop. The front of the crank case could also be worn down some.
