Hi all,
as I said in my presentation thread I've found a bunch of cox engines that need some restoration.

The first question is: what exact model is the one on thetop left in this image ?

In case, as someone suggested in the other thread ( and not that I doubt of him Smile

) is a 09, where can I fine the plastic black part holding the venturi ?
In broken, unfortunately, and is the first part that need to be replaced ( or even rebuild ).

Moreover, I would like to build, for these three engines, an head to use normal glow plug.
Did someone has the correct thread indication ?

Hi Pigi, and welcome to the forum Smile

The engine certainly looks like a Tee Dee .09, I've been looking for one myself.

You can find replacement parts for your 09 at Mecoa:

Pigi,
It does appear to be a TD .09. Here are a couple to reference. The one in the box was produced in 1992. You may be able to get a plug adapter head from Cox International or RJL. I have no idea where you could get the black part you need. Perhaps someone else knows a source. If I remember correctly, the head for the Dragonfly .074 fits the .09 and is fitted for a regular 1/4"x32 plug.

Edit: Additional thought: Some guys have been successful at repairing the black part by using copper wire and epoxy. Not pretty but should get you by until you locate parts.

I did a bit of research, and it seems that for the moment now one has a replacement for the carb mount.

I'll have to finish an engine I'm building rigth now, but I think my next work would be to ( try to ) make a new one. eventually from aluminium.

I'll keep you informed ( and came back with more questions I guess )

Just look up the COX engine parts, they have 09 carb body (black plastic) on stock

If their web site is correct, the only body missing are those for the .010 and for the 0.9

More over the 0.9 are the only images missing so I can't even seen if there is samo differences : Shocked

Sorry I thought it was available for immediate order from stock but is only there for a back order I. E if you place it they will have it produced afterwards.
Check it on eBay it shows up sometimes.

I have 4 TeeDee 049s and 3 of them have the carb body epoxied back together by a previous owner, the fourth has a new one Smile

The fourth is a never-run example, but still the carb body was cracked Huh...

The previous owner had bought the spare part but I installed it.

This is the weak point of the Tee Dees, regardless the size it seems. But the plastic material can be glued. All of mine are broken in the area between the carb and cylinder, so the repair is quite well out of sight. I think I will replace the one on my "showpiece" .051 though.

Mecoa sells 049 plastic bodies, I bought some black and red ones, and even for 020 and 010 sizes as well.

If the ventury thread is not overstressed, the plastic body will outlive the engine...my oldest TD051 has 250+ hours runtime on it and the red carb body is still as-new.

I agree, and I also think they crack because overtightening of the venturi. One of my red carb bodies feels a little brittle, but others are fine "material-wise".

Did someone has plans, or cad design for these engines ?
I would like to know dimensions and angles for the crankshaft support part.
This is needed to try to build a new carburetor mounting, in case I cannot find the replacement part.
