The 1/2a multi engine scale contest in October is adding a Musciano event. I'm building a thunderbird to compete in stunt and probably concourse.

Shout out to Roddy for the Bitchin' wheels!

Thanks!

Probably almost all white in a 1920's race plane style.

Thanks Roddie,

No pics. It's just a fire wall with one former, 1/4" top sheeting and 1/8" bottom sheeting.
Here's the plan:

Jim, I like your plane too. You should send OZ a picture or two of your plane in progress to add to the plan pages. I'm sure Steve would appreciate it.

That's a good looking plane. Looks like it's going 100mph just standing still Smile

Original design seems to have been a hollow-log, building it from sheet was a good idea, easier and probably a lot lighter too.

That plane looks GREAT !! I thought it was a kit now saying you scratch built it adds more hotness to build . Not much to go on other than reaging and some pics (I haven't read the plan yet) Was the cowling hard to make forming that is ? All white will have a good ole look to it love the way it fits nice and close together but , I think you are an exceptional builder Eyebrows Eric

Jim,

You have achieved modeling royalty. That is one bad looking bird. Sling that thing like it's a wicked stepchild.

What are the small tear-drop pieces on the tops of the elevators? Do they just hold down a wire linking the elevators together? They look like they should have some aerodynamic purpose. Heck, the whole thing looks so aerodynamic why wouldn't they? How about the top of the cowl, how it extends over the top of the wing. Is that just shaped ply?

I like the details - the very neat stitched hinges and the profiled bellcrank support. The whole model stands out as something special.

The small teardrops on the elevators reinforce the wire that couples the elevator. The cowling top is 1/32 ply, the bottom is the same only smaller.

Ron,

I actually built it to fly Musciano stunt: wingover, climb and dive, two inside loops, option of two outside loops and lazy eights.

I'll probably fly it in speed as well.

Stunt? It defies all the stunt laws lol!

It's going to be a handful. Hope it's on pressure. It just speaks speed to look at it. Who knows, Walt designed it for stunt so it must stunt!
