All this discussion of Fox engines lately by our new member Maxdeny, got me thinking about my old Fox powered Yak-9, both the engine and kit, given to me by Ron Cribbs. I looked it up on Youtube and realized it was today, one year ago that I last flew it.
So for old time sake, and just for fun:

Here's a flight last May at Huntersville

And Here's Cribbs wringing it out at Fort Jackson in Columbia in November 2014

You better get that Fox out and give that piston some exercise.

I better. Sure don't want gunk on the gudgeon!

Unfortunately, I don't see a flying day in my future before the second week in July. Maybe I'll rope it to the Workmate and give it a run. It wouldn't be a bit of fun standing there watching an LA.46 run would it. I'll just give that one a shot of airtool oil.

Guilty, your Honor. I throw myself on the mercy of the court. What's my sentence?

20yrs of trying to get a good run with a Fox glow plug!

Fox engines aren't cutting edge, and these days not very competitive. When you fly with one it's about getting a good run with known limitations. They last forever, provide adequate power, and made in small town America. Enjoy it for what it is and enjoy it often. I fly a 52' Fox that makes me smile every run. It's my favorite engine. I have many, many others that are more powerful and run amazing, but that ole engine makes me smile.

I sit rocking on the porch at the beach, laughing at your attempts to send me to Fox Jail. Come and find me, suckers lol!  tongue  Smoking  Fishing  Very Happy

Got my bluetooth tower speaker in the cool livingroom where my toy XP mini EeePC laptop is. Commander Cody is playing "Down to stems and seeds again."... ah now Santana...

I'll look in later. It's a hundred plus outside today. Holley's beheading pounds of shrimp.
