Cox Engine of The Month
All over but the shouting........

All over but the shouting........
Well, almost as there are a few details to tidy up but for all intents I could take this thing out and fly it now.
After much pain I finally have a steerable nose wheel. It took a lot of modifying, measuring, and epoxy but it's there. I can't imagine a R/C plane without one. Fuel tank too, I tried several and wound up buying a 2 ounce tank that Eric thinks might be to small. Outside of a custom build I had little choice as the space for it would allow nothing larger. I did some research though on R/C groups and discovered that most using .19/20 sized engines were getting around 20 minutes out of four ounces, so I figure around 10 minutes for this .19 Enya would be about right which is ok for me.
I knew this was a great running engine, but I bench tested it anyway just to be sure. I flipped it a few times and it barked but would not run, got out the electric starter, a few drops of light oil on the interface between the case and drive washer and she just took off. I leaned it out, shut it down and first flip resulted in an instant start.
The fuel tank is held tight by the cowling but I secured it to the platform with hot melt glue just to be sure.
New batteries in transmitter and receiver, servo controls set properly, love those reversible switches and variable throws and we are ready to go.
Son and wife showing up this weekend for fathers day, I'm promised a Yankee beef stew with dumplings. DIL is a great cook. Taxi tests for sure and maybe air time.

Got up early this morning and found this 10 yards off my front doorstep.

Looks ready to go.
I've been tripped up by the fixed nose wheel before. Not much to be done but change it if it won't roll straight... then change it anyways since it won't turn.
