Re: How does your Garden Grow
Hi All,
I tried to grow tomatoes 'head high' 2024.
Dismal failure.
The wood trelli worked out good. Tomatoes thought otherwise.
Half crop from last year. Still good eating.
'Heritage type' tomatoes tasted the same, just a different colour.
I find it fun, that tomatoes are actually, 'Training Me'...
Fun Fact:
Just got a winter's worth of canned whole tomatoes.
Mum and Dad love them.
It is way, way, by far cheaper.
But,
Off the vine, sun warmed Tomatoes are the very Best.
I'll get to know more about Tomatoes, more or less next year...
And,
I'll tell you about not cutting the back lawn for a year,
Mulching/bagging a years worth of growth into the garden beds...
The electric bagging mower survived !
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave (now technically a !) Fallowfield

Re: How does your Garden Grow
I grew a variety from the Ukraine knows as "Black from Tula". The tomato appears dark purple to black in color when ripe. When cut open it looks like no tomato I've ever seen. It almost looks rotted to some degree. Very dark insides unlike bright red tomatoes we typically see. It's taste is amazing and due to it's look, it generally is made into sauce as it doesn't present like others.
