Ha! See? I knew those wheels would go nicely on a project! A Veco one, no less. You're putting them to the use that they were intended! Good!

We painted the cockpit cut-outs on our Dumas kits. although I did cut out the one from Joe's plans. Blister packs are an excellent source for small windshields/canopies if you want some compound curves without buying or molding your own. Once you got it cut to shape, you can slice a matching slot in the fuselage, force a little slow epoxy into it, and press the windshield into the slot. You can use slow CA, but it "frosts" the clear plastic if it cures too quickly.

That's a pretty cool little plane. I've never built one with a fuselage like that.

That's coming nicely together Ron. I like it.
I know it's not as described but why not make a closed canopy out of a hollowed out block of balsa? Just an idea.

Thanks guys,
I would like to keep with the theme of the original. So I will probably source out a useable blister pack like Kim suggested. Here it is at the moment, it's about all I can do here in the hotel. All that is left to do is sand, paint/cover. I used all the original kit wood, hope it holds together.

Not sure Duke,
The open stringers past the aft bulkhead have me a bit baffled. There is no way I can Monokote that and make it look decent. I am considering silkspan even though that scares me as I haven't gone down that road before. So......I may go with Silkspan on the fuse and iron on for the wings. Color? not sure. Perphaps yellow and green.
I saw this one in the Fox factory. I liked it.

Wow! Some really nice history of @Cribbs74 and @Kim 's Veco / Dumas Scout builds, hard to believe was 9 years ago.
Kim, you have some amazing history with your brother and his 1947 Erco Ercoupe 2 seater, plus the C/L builds.
The wing area of the Scout would be ideal for an A.C. Gilbert .11 Thunderhead engine.
Also interesting, following the discussion, one can adapt the Scout's fuselage to create a full fuselage Tom Tom II using the half-A Tomahawk wings and tail.

History, indeed! The 41" Dumas Tom-Tom was the first larger than 1/2A C/L plane that I learned to fly -- had a McCoy .19 Redhead. I still have the engine, but the plane was eventually lost to oil, hanger rash and moves.
