Wen Mac/Testors P-38 Lightning info/manuals
Hello,
I recently picked up a Testors P-38 lightning in played with condition for a ridiculously low price. The chrome has been worn off the one gas engine side due to the fuel residue when the plane was flown but it is complete with all its parts. I may need a McCoy .049 No. 2 engine for this plane. Do any of the members have information as to a source for this engine? I'm also looking for paperwork for both the Wen Mac and Testors versions of the P-38 (operating instructions or the brochure for the Testors version where you could get a second engine to install from Testors for a nominal fee). Does anyone have a source for such paperwork or originals that they would be willing to copy and sell? Thanks for any replies received.
Joe

Testors Lightning instructions
Thank you very much for posting the information from your archives. I did find a local source for a high quality copy of these directions which are on their way to me. I'm still hoping to find a source for a copy of the directions for a Wen Mac P-38 Lightning.

If the mold trademarks on the plane say Testors you shouldn't put a second real engine in it if your objective is to keep as a collectors' item.

Testors Lightning instructions
Hello,
I don't see the plane having any markings of any sort on it anywhere that reflect the Testors trademark. Joe

Proceed with caution if restoration/collection is your objective. I've never carefully examined any P-38s up front and close as they were always priced beyond me means, but every Wen-Mac plastic plane and its Testor re-issue iterations as well as Testor original new products that I ever did examine had fairly conspicuous molded in trademarks. You might do well to closely examine a Wen-Mac P-38.
