The silver Cox Mercedes W-196

The silver Cox Mercedes W-196
They didn't make one.
Curious, as most if not all varieties of the full scale were silver including the closed wheel models. Easy to see why Cox chose the open wheel model to duplicate, easier to start.
Most like the Cox model
Not so much
So, I made my own.
"Grandpa" modified the front suspension and made the windshield for it, a little out of scale but I'm keeping it.

1960/61 Eric, think I was in my 70's at the time to old to be of any help.
Silver is nice but the red really pops. Probably doubled their sales.
I love this stuff. Been a fan of Formula 1 forever.
This one was a wreck. Took me a long time to sand out the scratches and never did get them all.
Front suspension mod and missing the exhaust system and drive shaft. Bless his heart, a replacement drive shaft from Mud is on it's way.
Working on a substitute for the exhaust. Aquarium air supply plastic tubes work well, perhaps plastic sheet for the heat shield.

Another one saved from the crusher. Very ingenious and creative with missing exhaust parts. Great Job Bob...again!
