Resisting the urge to make him an offer for all three.

Bob,
Just a FYI. Jim restored a RR1 for me that was over the top. Better than new. His work is second to none.
The colors don't display correctly with my poor camera skills.

Re: Really, really nice engines
I have bought a few engines from him and had him do some custom stuff on some others for me. Great guy, great work and attention to detail. He has a passion for it that shows. He still follows up with me from time to time to check in on how things are going.
Better move quick. That .09 got my attention. Trying to resist and keep reminding myself I already have plenty of unused .09s lying around.

You were one of the nippers.
I knew all along that I would get them half hoping that someone would beat me to it and relieve the urge.
Nice engines like those are not exactly my cup of "Tee" . I prefer the grungy old mostly used up variety. Think Red Baron 2 etc. But these were just so darn nice I couldn't pass them up.
Out of the couple hundred or so Cox engines that I have the special ones number about five including these. Whoops, forgot the Graffiti Bees - make that seven.
Catching up to Fred.
Jim says that he has a couple more coming up. Cancelling my ebay account.

So you have seen my picture...……..Remember I'm pushing 82....
Oh, you mean the engines. Ya, ain't they pretty.....
But, as much as I admire his work they will just sit. I'm really and no kidding, looking forward more to receiving the Red Baron2 Grungy Camel engine. Needs help and won't just sit. Thinking like Mark and Doc I will build a period engine stand for it, buttons for four wheels and position it by the Testors Camel which has become a popular addition to my collection.

That TD .09 deserves a few laps around the pattern before it spends an eternity in a box or on a shelf.

That will have to wait for future generations, my grand and great grandsons if they ever get their heads out of smart phones and X-boxes. Thankfully my generation never had to contend with the things.
Nothing I would like more, but I'm sure after a few laps I would probably plant it. Wasn't always so. I think this will be my first Cox .09 anything.

I understand. Hey, as you admire it from time to time on the shelf, play the soundtrack to this video in your mind. I love the raspy sound of a Cox .09 in flight!

That is a nice sound. Great flyer too. Flys well dead stick and I like the no-wheels landings. Great field too, typically Texas. Nothing like that around here, nearest flat land for me is a state over in Virginia.
We had a field like that in Florida where I was a member of a club and mostly flew this Sterling Fledgling which I still have. Can't say as much for my other R/C planes of the same era.

Yep, we're lucky to have a wide open field to play with. It's on chemical pipeline right-of-way land that's also near a landfill and surrounded by saltgrass(and rattlesnakes!). It's usually well populated with mosquitoes. Being only about 1/2 mile from the beach, it's usually pretty windy. It's actually a nice field and a great group of club members. I'm just poking at ya about the engine. Believe me, I've got plenty of Cox engines that I've never started, much less flown.

Re: Really, really nice engines
Those really are beautiful engines, all of them. I remember Doc's RR-1 restoration and I've got one I'd like to get done the same. I've seen most of those engines on the Bay and I'm glad they got to go to good homes. I was really tempted to offer a few of them shelter here. Especially the dark green one.
But I have to say Bob, that last one, the RR-1 with Paul's hand-written note, that's the real gem.

Nice Engines...
Hi Dave,
Well since I didn't have the original packaging, I'm pleased to hear you liked what it came in.
Cheers, Paul
